Around you, Poison Tera Crystals, minerals imbued with Dynamax Energy, and more exist for you to mine, harvest, and gather.[break][break]

To overcome the energy's paranoia or hallucinogenic effects, designate someone who will take the brunt of the core's radiation.

unaware / earthquake, muddy water, yawn, sludge wave, focus punch, dig

Deep Sea made her uncomfortable. It was close to home, which made her feel less free to experiment with out-there pokemon moves like she would in regular power spots. If she was wrong about how much damage this environment could take, Dewford would be punished for it. But she trusted things would go well since she was with Yuina. There wouldn't be much need to defend themselves haphazardly.

Still, the intense energy of the place made her feel jumpy. "It doesn't seem to get much easier to be down here..."

There were few things that Yuina hated more than being left alone with herself, and even going down into the depths of the ultra sea again wasn't one of them. To her detriment, for better or for worse, she just tried to stay busy, occupied, focused... On anything that wasn't her own thoughts... And even then there was still very little escape she was granted.[break][break]
"It doesn't get easier being down here, no... But I don't think it gets harder than the first time," Yuina returned, a glass half full approach perhaps, but at least she found that it didn't get any worse than experiencing the toxins for the first time unprepared.[break][break]
Moving into the cavernous depths, a Houndoom that Yuina encountered stalked in front of them, magenta chains dragging along the ground at her ankles, a soft magenta hue emanating from her fur. Perhaps it was a little overzealous on Yuina's part, but... She wanted to see how the toxic chain might withstand against a different kind of toxin.[break]

Robin smiled, caught off guard by Yuina's statement. "You're totally right," she conceded, feeling that that must be true for most of her Ranger experiences. "How's the toxic chain treating your Houndoom?" She had heard about a lot of pokemon coming down with the same condition after the Penitentiary. She wasn't positive about any of the science behind it, but it didn't seem to make the pokemon sick when they had it. Perhaps, it was a result of an immunity to the initial wave of toxins that had poisoned Hoenn that month.

Nihilego broke into the scene, interrupting her thoughts. One tossed rock spikes at the floor, but Klefki used magnet rise to give himself and Houndoom more space from the spikes with the gentle magnetism.

Watching the Houndoom ever closely, Yuina glanced back to Robin at her query. She'd made a lot of observations about the canine in comparison to what the region experienced as a whole in the spring, and there were definitely some stark differences.[break][break]
"The chain has become a more integral part of her body, not like she had only just been inflicted some days ago. I think, her body having time to... Accept it I suppose, has made it as much a part of her as her tail or horns," Yuina answered, but that was only the surface of what she had begun to observe and learn about the Houndoom.[break][break]
The canine snarled as the jellyfish encroached upon them, slinking into the cavern and spouting a barrage of spikes in their way. With the Klefki's help though, the hazard was minimal and allowed Ruza to rush forward. The chains at her ankles came to life, moving under her control, and the many appendages reached out to ensnare and combat the many arms of the jellyfish, using Toxic Subjugation.[break][break]
"Oh-- okay, that's new..."

The Poison Tera Crystals glow bright as all manner of terrible things appear, drawn from the conscious of those affected by the Eternatus core. Eventually, these manifested figures will expire, disintegrating into nothing but residual Dynamax Energy.

A part of the Houndoom... that was interesting. It looked to be an advantage with the way Houndoom held the Nihilego. "Oh, it's kinda like how shadows work. Toxtricity can do a little shadow rave." It seemed like this was a similar modification of a pokemon's physiology that granted them power of some sort of element. Tox could manipulate shadows and Houndoom could summon poisonous chains.

The Nihilego morphed, however, gaining feathers of steel and looking a little like a Skarmory. "Ah, the deep sea is doing the fusion thing again." She didn't know why it always happened here, but at least they were cool to look at. Klefki used play rough on the fusion while Houndoom kept it still.

Shadows? Robin had a fair point to make in her comparison. While shadow Pokémon didn't necessarily have another appendage of sorts that became a part of their body, their biological makeup did change in a similar way. Shadow Pokémon responded differently to their external environment than their normal counterparts, that was for certain.[break]
"Well, yes, I think that's a fair conclusion to draw. The two aren't entirely dissimilar from each other," Yuina returned, she agreed with Robin, but they didn't have time to prattle on about theory as the cavern of toxins did what it did best...[break][break]
Amidst the Play Rough and Ruza's chains binding the jellyfish turned monstrosity tighter and tighter, dealing damage in between, the Houndoom snarled again as she held fire in her maw. She released a series of burning embers, surrounding the monster in Fire Spin to continue their assault.

You must escape with your gathered material. Your ally or allies may be incapacitated by the paranoia settling in their psyches, or perhaps, the eldritch mutations beginning to metamorphose their body or bodies.[break][break]

Depending on how much your characters have mined, you may need to lessen your extracted load to ensure successful escape from this wretched place. After all, the horrors that reside here may make chase.

The toxins of the area started to get to her as the fought raged on, but Houndoom closed things up for them. The fusion re-entered the abyss and left them to their devices, though the fatigue hit Robin like a truck. "I wish there was a vitamin I could take. This stuff weighs on the soul." Despite herself, she laughed. But she took very few materials with her as it was more important to make a safe trip back than to carry more. "Let's get some R&R."
